Student Eligibility

All degree seeking International Students, regardless of credit hours, are required to purchase this insurance plan unless proof of comparable coverage is furnished. 

Students must actively attend classes for at least the first 31 days after the date for which coverage is purchased. The 31 day requirement is waived for Summer if the applicant was enrolled in this plan in the immediately preceding Spring term. Home study, correspondence and online courses do not fulfill the Eligibility requirements that the student actively attend classes. The Company maintains its right to investigate Eligibility or student status and attendance records to verify that the policy Eligibility requirements have been met. If the Company discovers the Eligibility requirements have not been met, its only obligation is to refund premium.

 

Eligible students who do enroll may also insure their Dependents. Eligible Dependents are the student’s legal spouse and dependent children under 26 years of age. 

Dependent Eligibility expires concurrently with that of the Insured student.

 

U.S. citizens are not eligible for coverage as a student or a Dependent.

OPEN ENROLLMENT PERIODS

If you are eligible or have eligible Dependents in the fall and you choose not to enroll before the Fall/Early Arriving RA’s Fall Enrollment Deadline, you or your Dependents will not be eligible to enroll again until the start of the next fall unless you experience a Qualifying Life Event during the year.

2018 – 2019 Enrollment Information

Student Eligibility

International students or other persons with a current passport who: 1) are engaged in educational activities; 2) are temporarily located outside his/her home country as a non-resident alien; 3) have not obtained permanent residency status in the U.S.; and 4) are enrolled in an associate, bachelor, master or Ph.D. degree program at a university or other educational institution, with no less than 6 credit hours (unless such school’s full-time status requires less); Visiting Scholars, Optional Practical Training Students and formal English as a Second Language program students with an F1 or J1 visa are eligible to enroll in this insurance Plan. The six credit hour requirement is waived for Summer if the applicant was enrolled in this plan as a full-time student in the immediately preceding Spring term.

Important dates

The Master Policy becomes effective at 12:01 A.M, July 01, 2018. The individual student’s coverage becomes effective on the first day of the period for which premium is paid or the date the enrollment form and full premium are received by the Company (or its authorized representative), whichever is later. The Master Policy terminates at 11:59 P.M, September 30, 2019. Coverage terminates on that date or at the end of the period through which premium is paid, whichever is earlier. Twelve (12) months is the maximum time coverage can be effective under any policy year for any Insured Person. Dependent coverage will not be effective prior to that of the insured student or extend beyond that of the insured student.

Hard Waiver Student Eligibility

All registered degree seeking St. Paul Day students, Minneapolis Associate students and Certificate students who are enrolled at St. Catherine University are automatically enrolled unless proof of comparable coverage is provided.

 

You can also enroll yourself now by clicking “Enroll Now” below to avoid receiving future reminders and begin using your plan.

If you have missed the hard waiver enrollment deadline, but have not previously waived out of the insurance, you will be automatically enrolled in the insurance by your school, after the waiver deadline.

If you have previously waived out of the insurance but have since lost coverage due to a Qualifying Life Event please contact us.

 

Please note: If you do not enroll for the year during the fall open enrollment period, you will not be able to enroll later during the 2016-2017 school year without experiencing a “Qualifying Life Event”. This means that the loss of coverage is no fault of your own or the policyholders (i.e. you get married or become too old to be on a family plan). You will be eligible to enroll within thirty days of this “Qualifying Life Event”. After thirty days, you will no longer be eligible.

Eligible students who do enroll may also insure their dependents. Eligible dependents are the student’s spouse and dependent children under 26 years of age.  Please see the Enrollment Instructions below.

To enroll by mail-download an enrollment form and submit by mail using a check or money order. The mailing address is listed on the back of the Enrollment Forms.

The effective date of your dependent’s coverage will be start date of the coverage period you enrolled in

If you did not enroll your dependent during the annual open enrollment period but your dependent has since lost coverage due to a Qualifying Life Event please contact us.


Open Enrollment Periods

If you are a student in the Fall semester and eligible to purchase coverage and you choose not to enroll for coverage before the Annual Enrollment Deadline of *September 26, 2016, you will not be eligible to enroll again until the start of next Fall unless you experience a “Qualifying Life Event” during the year.

*For new students in the Spring semester, your open enrollment deadline is February 27, 2017. 


Qualifying Life Event

Students who did not enroll themselves during the open enrollment period may be able to enroll in the policy if they experience a Qualifying Life Event.

Qualifying Life Events include:

  • Acquiring a new family member
  • Marriage/Civil Union
  • Divorce
  • Loss or change of Job
  • Expiration of Benefits

 

If you meet the requirements for a Qualifying Life Event, you will need to provide the following:

  • Proof of qualifying life event/proof of involuntary loss of coverage
  • Enrollment Form
  • Payment

 

All documents and payment must be received within 30 days of the qualifying life event. After 30 days, the student or will no longer be eligible to enroll in the plan, until fall of the following school year.

Hard Waiver Student Eligibility

All full-time undergraduate students taking 12 or more credit hours, and all full-time graduate students taking 9 or more credit hours, are required to purchase this insurance Plan unless proof of comparable coverage is furnished.

  • ANNUAL Enrollment Deadline: 9/21/16
  • SPRING/SUMMER Enrollment Deadline: 2/6/17 (fornew incoming students)

If you have previously waived out of the insurance but have since lost coverage due to a Qualifying Life Event please contact us.

Please note: If you do not enroll for the year during the fall open enrollment period, you will not be able to enroll later during the 2016-2017 school year without experiencing a “Qualifying Life Event”. This means that the loss of coverage is no fault of your own or the policyholders (i.e. you get married or become too old to be on a family plan). You will be eligible to enroll within thirty days of this “Qualifying Life Event”. After thirty days, you will no longer be eligible.


Dependent Enrollment

Your school does not offer dependent enrollment with your plan.
